Rather Blue

These inexcusable absences really ought to stop. I have been a terrible blogger and should be punished.

Ok maybe not that drastically. But if it makes you feel any better, every day feels like someone's dragging me over hot coals. This blogger has a job. A job she truly despises. Demeaning, physically exhausting, frustrating and generally soul-crushing. It doesn't help that I am currently nursing a cold and many sadnesses because my best buddy is off to make his fortune in the UK. While I probably can't mention the language school by name, I'll just say that the blue t-shirt and backpack are the least of my worries. Admin attitude is haughty and unhelpful  most times and downright useless at others. Pay cuts mean that less folks are working which means that the ones who are working are being driven into the ground picking up the slack. Schedules are so packed that they're eating away at the precious little time I have left to enjoy my friends and loved ones before a 4-month stint abroad. Fellow leaders are another kettle of fish. Most are on the same page; complaining about the shite wage, wayward charges and overly demanding foreign leaders who have no idea how hard our job is. Some throw themselves to the crowd in an attempt to seem upbeat and 'with it', dancing on stage in front of bemused students at discos, looking at the trained monkeys the company they paid thousands provided for them. I believe, though I may be wrong, that the only thought keeping all of us alive in the baking sun is 'Think of the money'. Which is the reason I haven't left yet. However, there is only so much I can take so the job hunt goes on.

In other news, all the puppies have gone to their new homes. I miss the little fuzznuggets but I do not miss the constant cleaning, brawl-control and toe-biting. I'll post any pictures the new owners send me because I know how you guys love puppy pictures.

Today I'll be taking my first Arriva bus ride. Or rides, if I mess up the numbers. Picking tourist season to overhaul a bus system may not have been Transport Malta's best idea but I have hope that a bit over a week into operation, things are settling down enough for me to get a bus safely to work. I do feel a little lost because a year ago you could ask me what bus number goes where and I could accurately tell you a good number of them. Today? Clueless. Let's see where I end up. Please keep an eye out for smoke signals/flares.

Will we arriva or will we be losta?
